This seminar is designed for accountants who prepare estate and fiduciary returns. The attendee should have some basic knowledge of estates and trusts.

This course will help you get started incorporating estate work into your practice or serve as a refresher for those already doing estate work. The aging baby boomers are in an inheriting mode and you will learn how to advise them on such matters as portability and funding of the sub-trusts. There is something for everyone from the novice to the seasoned practitioner. The course also explores the decisions required in handling clients’ estates and trusts from beginning to close, including tax elections available, distributing assets to beneficiaries, and filing all applicable tax forms. We analyze Form 1041 (including all topics listed under the 1041 course description), U.S. Income Tax Return for Estates and Trusts, Form 709, U.S. Gift (and GST) Tax Return, and Form 706, Estate Tax Return. In addition, we will cover all the new tax law changes and important rulings and cases.
